Thomas Alsabrook

was born in Talbot County, Ga., Dec. 12, 1830. His father, Lewi Alsabrook, was a native of N.C., born 1796. His mother, Ailsa D. Alsabrook was a native of Georgia, b. 1806, daughter of Robert D. tin and his wife, Elizabeth. Robert D. Martin was born in Maryland April 15, 1774. He was a soldier in the War of 1812 and lived for man} years in Macon County, Ga. Lewis Alsabrook and Ailsa Martin were married in Jones County, Ga. about 1825 and had: Jorden, Thomas, William, Henry, Barney, Martha, Robert, George, Asa, Jane, Lewis, James, John.

Thomas Alsabrook came to Arkansas in 1855 with his mother's brother, Seaborn Jones Martin and Robert Douglas Martin. They settled in what is now Nevada County. On January 13, 1857, Thomas Alsabrook was married to Mary G. Munn (April 10, 1841-Sept 15, 1883), a native of Marshall County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of James Munn (b. May 24, 1806, in Montgomery County, N.C.) and his wife, Lucindy (Johnson) Munn.

The subject of this sketch joined the Confederate Army, March 11,1862 19th Arkansas, Company H., Sol. Dockery's Inf. He was in the battle of Corinth, Champion’s Hill, Vicksburg, but escaped without injury, Later at Marks’ Mill (Arkansas), he was wounded in the leg by a minieball and on the head by a shell. He left the army somewhat disabled though he was able to lead a normal, happy life.

After the death of his wife, Mary (Munn) Alsabrook (Sept 15, 1883), Thomas Alsabrook married Mary S. Medders, native of the state of Alabama by whom he had no issue.

Thomas Alsabrook was a man of family prayer - an ardent member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, though his parents had been members of the United Baptists, his father dying in full communion with the seme in 1865.

On August 29, 1916, Thomas Alsabrook died and was buried at Mt. Moriah, Nevada County, Arkansas.

He was a Democrat. His father was a Whig.
