Nancy (Warmack) Atkins

was born July 1, 1857, in what is now Nevada County, Arkansas. Her parents were Thomas Perry Warmack native of Habersham County, Georgie, and his second wife, Judy Ann (Waters) Warmack. The Warmacks came to Arkansas in 1850. Judy Ann Waters was the daughter of Lewis Waters, also an early pioneer to what is now Nevada County, Arkansas. Nancy Warmack attended subscription schools in a schoolhouse 1/2 mile from her home in Taylor Township. Two of her teachers were: Alex Brown and Miss Mollie Horner.

On December 7, 1876, Nancy Warmack was married to Willis W. Atkins, son of John Reed Atkins and his wife, Catherine (Wilson) Atkins. John Reed Atkins was born in the year 1815 in South Carolina. When he was 24 years of age, he left his native state and came to Arkansas. In 1841 he was married at Arkadelphia, Clark County, Arkansas to Catherine Wilson. They moved from Arkadelphia to a few miles south of what is now Prescott, Nevada County. Later, they moved to lower Nevada County, below what is now Waterloo. John R. Atkins was a Royal Arch Mason, member of Woodlawn Chapter (Aug. 18, 1855. S.H. Bayless, HP.)

Willis W. Atkins was a planter in lower Nevada County. Children borne him by his wife, Nancy (Warmack) Atkins were:

Lillie who married Oscar Phillips; Leander, married Maggie Phillips; Lenora, married Sam Chamberlain; Leroy, married Lelis Phillips; Thomas, married Epise Crank; Paris, married Mozella Best; Dallis, married Era Luck; John, married Eunice Barr; Pratie, married T.L. Butcher; Coy, married Herbert Herring.
