Whereabouts of John Samuel ( "Captain Jack") Smith during civil war? by d jack smith (wardaddy65@yahoo.com bounced) on 2004-04-15 3:52 a.m.

Daniel Jackson Smith was Columbia County Judge 1860 - 1862 - during the civil war. I would like to know what his son John Samuel Smith was doing then. I can't find him on the roster of Ark. Confederate troops but he later was always called "Captain Jack" -?- Many thanks. D Jack Smith - Memphis Attorney, his great grandson

I am reading my g grandfathers journal from 1913. He talks about sitting on a bench in Crawford Texas discussing old times with Capt. Jack Smith. I am wondering if this could be your Jack Smith.
