This is one of the oldest we have copied. Jimmy Sampson's great-grand mother. Copied from a portrait painted by probably a local artist about 1880. Lady in photo, upper left, is Louisa May Barksdale. We are told the portrait was done before 1880.

One of the oldest buildings we have pictures of. Used as a feed warehouse by J. M. Stripling Farmers Supply, until 1950. Located on West Second where Chuck's Plumbing parking lot was located. West 2nd St between Elm St and Main St. Future site of parking lot for new library.

Man with suspenders is Jacob Cross at a reunion of Confederate soldiers from this area. He was captured and held in one of the two prisons near Chicago, IL. He was the grandfather to Charlie Cross and Ivey E. Cross. Great- grandfather to Charles Ray Cross and James E. Cross.

(caption - Cotton scales used by the Pittman Cotton Warehouse. Warehouse was constructed in the first decade of the 20th century as The Farmer's Union Warehouse. Leased by The Prescott Hardware 8/11/19 to make harvest after Farmer's Union went broke. Bought 12/4/19 by Prescott Hardware operated until last 24 bales shipped 1/3/69 as Pittman Cotton Warehouse. Bodcaw Academy in 1915. The center had been added for aditional space. Picture shows the damage caused by the 1914 tornado which caused the building to be torn down.

Picture shows both shots we have of Bodcaw Academy. Note that in the two pictures that they seem to switch ends. We first thought that the negative had been reversed but this is not the case.Just three weeks we talked to Mr. Carl Mitchell about the oddity in this picture. Mr. Mitchell said that it was his recollection that about 1900 the road changed locations and that the front became the back of this building. This is a logical explanation but Mr. Mitchell is our only source. Do you have any information about this?
