SAMPSON REUNION -

A reunion of the children and descendants of the late J. H. Sampson was held at the home of Jack J. Sampson at Laneburg, last Sunday at which the following children wer present:

Howell C. Sampson, Mrs. Sarah J. Barksdale, Mrs. N. Caroline Munn, Mrs. Martha A. Neill, Rich T. Sampson, Jack J. Sampson, George Sampson. The combined ages of these seven childrn are 492 years, the eldest being 80 and the youngest 59 years old. This is the first time in forty years that they have been together. One other brother, Frank F. Sampson, resides at Chickasha, Okla., but was unable to be with them. the following descendants, eighty-four in number, were present:

Howell C. Sampson, Mrs. Sarah J. Barksdale, Mrs. N. Caroline Munn, Mr. and Mrs. J.W, Neill of Austin, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Rich T. Sampson and five children; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sampson and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. George Sampson; Mrs. John O'Hollarend and son; Mr. and Mrs. Andy Barr and three children; Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Barksdale and two children; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Barksdale and son; Mr. and Mrs. A.V. Merryman of Austin, Tex., and two children; Mr. Jeff Sampson and two children; Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Sampson and two children; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Eatland and six children; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rhodes and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Daniell and five children; Mr. and Mrs. Hilman Steed and two children; Pierson Sampson and son; Mr. and Mrs. Cicero Cook and four children; Mr. and Mrs. Henry M. Dade and son; ... [last name(s) illegible].

Beginning with:

A real old-fashioned basket picnic dinner was spread and a sumptous feast enjoyed.

This was very interesting. Thank you for sharing. My name is Barbara Sampson Ellenburg. My paternal grandfather was mentioned in that article. His name was Pearson Sampson and the son that was spoken of would have been my father Carroll Franklin Sampson. My uncle, James A. "Jimmy" Sampson has alot of interesting family information to share and would really love to hear from you when you get a chance to visit. His number is 1-870-887-6603. He still lives in Laneburg, Arkansas. I'm sure he would be interested in any information you may have to share.

Thanks, Barbara. FYI, our connection is through Pearson's uncle, Francis "Frank" Frederick Sampson, who was living in Chickasha, Oklahoma, at the time of the reunion and did not attend.
