Obituary: Clintona Yvonne Giles-Peters was born in Rosston, Arkansas on January 24, 1958, to the union of Chester Ray Hendrix and Mae Bell Simpson Lenox. She was a 1975 graduate of Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia. She was a former employee of Prescott Manor Nursing Home and the Southside Child Development Center in Prescott. She was a risk-taker, a go-getter. She lived life to the fullest and always encouraged others to do the same. She made life-long friends wherever she went. Clintona knew her way around a kitchen. She was a soul food “boiling pots” cooking type of woman. She really cooked with instinct and was always searching for the next, greatest flavors. She truly was at the forefront of getting her family excited about her cooking. Everyone had their favorite; whether it was her enchiladas, ox tails, ox tail soups, sock-it-to-me cake or just a pound cake. She was a fashionista in her rights and did things “her way.” She loved get-togethers with her family and friends. She and Larry dominated the spades table and particularly loved the hilarious bragging rights stemming from their frequent wins. She was a loving wife, super mother, the greatest sister, sweet grandmother, proud aunt, and a true friend. Those who were fortunate to cross her path were benefactors of her sound wisdom and words of encouragement. Clintona passed from this life on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at CHI St. Vincent Hospital on Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie J. Lenox and Mae Bell Simpson Lenox (2019); and a sister, Barbara F. Giles (2018). She leaves to cherish her in memory her husband, Larry Peters of Prescott, AR; her children, David (Shelia) Giles of Sparkman, AR, Larry (UnaRita) Peters of Prescott, AR, Bridgett Peters (Stacey) of Arkadelphia and Amber Peters of Prescott, AR; her grandchildren, Julius, Adrian, Larry, Micah, Davita, Stacey, Leah, Larry'ah, Kara, Madison, Megan, Mckenzie, Ava, Mila, Skilar, Emma, Evon, Avita, Premier, Heiress, Kamille, Tenesha, Justin, and Marlin and five great-grandchildren; her siblings, Ollie F. Holtzclaw (Jeffrey), of Tyler, TX, Roger S. Lenox (Lori) of Dallas, TX, Sidney D. Lenox (Linda) of Wichita, KS, Glenda S. Copeland (Joe) of Suffolk, VA and Micah A. Lenox (Daphne) of Norfolk, VA; an aunt, Narvell Johnson of Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at New Salem Cemetery in Rosston, Arkansas with Rev. Janice Haynes, officiating.
