Obituary: Dora Katherine Godwin Koger, age 93, passed away, with family by her side, on Thursday, October 5, 2023, in Prescott, AR. “Kakie” was born to Leon and Millie Partin Godwin on April 25, 1920, in St. Cloud, Fl. Kakie was a beloved mother and grandmother and was called “Kakie” to all who knew and loved her. She never met a stranger, gave selflessly, and made sure everyone felt loved and included. She was a strong Christian and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and worked right along with her husband, kids, and family. But, always having full meals on the table to feed all that were around. She loved cooking and was an expert knitter, two of her favorite hobbies. In 1964, her family moved to Arkansas from Kissimmee Florida and found Prescott to be their forever home. She and her husband Gene began farming their new home-place raising cows and working in the poultry business. They were named Farm Family of the Year in 1976 and again in 1990. Kakie is preceded in death by her husband Gene Koger, parents, Leon and Millie Godwin, one son Michael Eugene Koger, two sisters, Bonnie Godwin Sams and Ruth Perry Godwin, and one brother Robert Godwin all from Prescott, Arkansas. She is survived by her son, Randy and his wife, Charlene. Four grandchildren; Reed Koger (Becky), Celeste McMaster (Jason), from Columbia, South Carolina, Stan (Crystal) Koger, and Jason Koger, all from Prescott. She also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren, Devin (Trevor)Pipkin, Ty Koger, Lily Koger, Mikki Koger, Madeline Koger, Brady Simmons, and one great grandchild, Everly Marie Pipkin. Her niece, Evadne Ganarelli, from Lake Wales, Florida was like a daughter to her, also many close nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Visitation will be at the Brazzel / Cornish Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday October 7, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM at Cornish Chapel on Sunday October 8, 2023, with burial to follow at DeAnn Cemetery.
