Does anyone know of a Cox family in the area of Rosston, Arkansas who had a daughter named Mary Cox who married Ephraim Cordlius Steed? She was his first wife, and they wed as teenagers sometime in the early 1870s near Rosston. They had two sons before she died young, probably before she was twenty-one, of tuberculosis. My grandfather Charlie Moses Steed was only four years old when his mother died, and his brother Lee Steed, buried in DeAnn cemetery near Prescott, was about two years old. I have been unable to find any information on Mary's family, and I fear records of the marriage license may have gone up in smoke when one of the old courthouses burned. Ephraim was the son of Moses Hillman Steed and Chloe Cook. I believe Hillman is buried in Friendship Cemetery. Does anyone know the date of his death. Hillman was a CSA veteran. Ephraim later married Frances Antoinette Boswell, and they had a large family of children, including Floyd Hinton, Luther, Cecil, Annie Pearl, Oma Lucinda and Adele and Idell, and others. Frances had a twin sister named Love who never married. Does anyone have any information on the Boswell family?
