Payton Graves Tunnell, no brother named Jasper by Sonja Brumit (wolfmom45@netzero.com) on 2010-05-20 8:36 p.m.

Looking through the comments, I noticed that a Virgie Metts mentioned that a Jasper Tunnell was brother to Payton Graves Tunnell, whose marker is actually on the grave of Vina Fortune Tunnell in Ebenezer Cemetery. Information that the marker is on the grave of Vina was given I by his granddaughter Drue Essie Westmoreland, daughter of Isaac Newton Tunnell, who ordered the headstone. Payton was buried on his homestead, and his grave is underneath the present day Hwy. 24. Payton was one of 12 children of Rev. Stephen Tunnell, Jr. and Sarah Hamilton. Names of his siblings are Nancy, Elijah John, Polly, Betsey, Sarah Ann, Stephen Money, Jane Catherine, David Parker, Martha Kezia, and Thomas Lloyd. My great-grandfather was Payton's son Isaac Newton "Ike" Tunnell.
