Obituary: Joyce was born on August 31, 1930 to Thomas Ernest Hodnett and Edna Russell Hodnett in Nevada County, Arkansas. She married the love of her life, Clarence “Homer” Knighton on April 30, 1948. They had three children – Charles Ray Knighton, Penny, and Kenneth Farrell. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, she worked in the insurance and finance industries before retiring. She enjoyed crafts and sewing in her spare time. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Homer Knighton, son Charles Ray Knighton, grandson Cory Ray Knighton, parents Thomas Ernest & Edna Hodnett, and brothers Jack Hodnett, Thomas Hodnett, Denver Hodnett and Quay Hodnett, In-laws Clarence & Evie Andrews Knighton. She is survived by her daughter Penny Knighton Carruth & husband Mel, son Kenneth F. Knighton, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandson. Services will be Monday, July 28, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 1900 S. Woodlawn, Denison, TX. with fellowship to follow. Graveside services will be at Union Cemetery, Rosston, AR on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 2 p.m.
