Obituary: A much-loved husband, father, and grandfather, Jimmy Howard Burton, of Prescott, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Texarkana on November 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. For two months, he had fought pancreatic cancer with courage and dignity. He was born on December 16, 1947, in Amity, Arkansas, to Howard and Wanda Loyd Burton. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1966. Upon graduation, Jimmy served in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years. He was a man of a strong work ethic and spent his career as a dedicated, hard-working truck driver for Roadway Express, where he was known for his reliability and commitment. After a fulfilling career, he retired at age 62. Jimmy was a devoted husband of 58 years to his beloved wife, Virginia, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Kiley, and a daughter, Krista. He was a loving grandfather to Brady, Brooke, and Jase, cherishing every moment he had with them. He found his greatest joy in his family, and his legacy is forever etched in the hearts of his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Prescott, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lowdermilk Burton; his daughter, Krista Ann Burton; and his grandchildren, Brady (Jessica) Burton, Brooke Burton, and Jase Burton. Also survived by his sister, Mary Vanscoy; a brother, Travis Burton; brother-in-law, Ronnie Lowdermilk; sister-in law, Wrenetta Greene and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Kiley Shawn Burton; parents Howard and Wanda Loyd Burton; a sister, Wanda Jean Owens; and a sister-in-law, Barbara O’Steen Lowdermilk. Visitation will be held at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott, Arkansas, Saturday, November 29 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place at First Baptist Church, Prescott, Arkansas on Sunday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Prescott, Arkansas.
